Tottenham evening headlines as Mourinho makes Kane admission and Spurs monitor Juventus starlet

Here are your Tottenham evening headlines for Friday, February 12.

Kane should be fit to play

Jose Mourinho believes Harry Kane can start Saturday evening's crunch game away at Man City, insisting the striker suffered "no negative feelings" after Thursday night's FA Cup epic at Goodison Park.

Injuring both ankles in the recent home defeat against Liverpool, the England captain made his comeback last Sunday as he scored in the 2-0 win over West Brom.

Despite lasting the full 90 minutes against the Baggies, the 27-year-old dropped down to the bench in midweek for the FA Cup tie against Everton before coming on shortly after half-time with his side 3-2 down.

Jose Mourinho appeared to question Gareth Bale's attitude after admitting he was surprised the player asked for a scan on an injury he described as “not obvious”.

As the game went to extra time after it finished 4-4 after 90 minutes, Kane played just over an hour on Merseyside ahead of the important league fixture away at Man City.

Mourinho said: "Of course, he played 60 minutes or so, which he didn't want and I didn't want as it was a game that pushed us in that direction, but no negative feelings after the game."

Europa League venue change

Tottenham's Europa League Round of 32 first leg tie against Wolfsberger AC will now take place in Budapest, Hungary next Thursday.

Following a number of European games changing venues in recent days due to Covid-19 restrictions in certain countries, Spurs' first game in the knockout phase of the competition will now not take place in Austria as initially planned.

A statement on the club's official website read: "The first leg of our UEFA Europa League round of 32 tie against Austrian side Wolfsberger AC will now take place in Budapest, Hungary, next week.

"The new Puskás Aréna, home of the Hungary national team, will host the match as COVID-19 regulations in Austria mean we can no longer play at the Worthersee Stadion in Klagenfurt.

Spurs monitor Juventus defender

Tottenham and Newcastle United are among the clubs keeping a watching brief on Radu Dragusin's situation at Juventus with the young defender out of contract in the summer.

According to Sport Witness, Juve have meetings planned with the talented 19-year-old but the presence of Premier League interest could complicate negotiations.

RB Leipzig are the third reported interest party with the Bundesliga side a traditional destination for many of Europe's most up and coming footballers.

Romanian under-21 international Dragusin has made four appearances for Juve this season making his debut for the Bianconeri on December 2 as a substitute in a Champions League tie.

Jose Mourinho wants to add defensive reinforcements in the summer to arguably the weakest area of the Spurs squad but Dragusin would very much be a long-term project, rather than an immediate solution.
