Here are the Tottenham Hotspur evening headlines on Wednesday, July 1.
Spurs boss identifies dream signing
Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho has identified his dream signing as Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, according to Foot Mercato.
The report states that Mourinho has been keeping tabs on Milinkovic-Savic since 2016, when he was manager of Manchester United.
The 25-year-old is valued at around £58m by Lazio, meaning Spurs could have to raise some funds through selling players.
The Serbia international is top of Tottenham’s transfer target list this summer, the report says, to add some much-needed fire-power to their midfield options.
Mourinho provides update on Dier future
Tottenham boss Mourinho has revealed Eric Dier wants to stay at the club beyond the end of his contract.
Dier’s contract in north London expires at the end of next season and there has been plenty of speculation over his future.
However, Mourinho has revealed he wants to stay, he said: “My boss Mr. Levy tells me that he wants Eric to sign a new contract and Eric tells me he is more than happy here, happy with his situation, especially now we have a certain idea for him and the team.

"He wants very much to stay."
The key voice transforming Spurs’ defence
Dier undoubtedly splits opinion at Tottenham, but in recent weeks, the 26-year-old has showcased his importance to the squad, as Alasdair Gold writes.
The England international has made the key decision that his future in the game is at centre-back rather than in midfield, and Mourinho seems to support the move.
Dier has played in Spurs’ last six matches at the heart of defence and with the absence of supporters, he can easily be heard shouting orders and encouragement at his team-mates.
Davinson Sanchez has been noticeably boosted by the presence of his colleague, especially with Dier man being able to play as the left-sided central defender.
