Tottenham evening headlines as Mourinho aims to sign Real Madrid defender, Perisic decision made

Here are your Tottenham Hotspur evening headlines for Monday, January 11.

Militao loan offered

Spurs have reportedly offered to sign Real Madrid defender Eder Militao on loan until the end of the season, including an option to buy that could be exercised in the summer.

Corriere dello Sport via The Focus reports that Jose Mourinho has offered the young defender, who has played only 134 La Liga minutes this season, a deal with Spurs.

The report adds that Spurs could face competition from Roma and Milan and does not explain how much Spurs would be willing to pay to sign him permanently in the summer.

Jose Mourinho on Alfie Devine's goalscoring prowess

Spurs signed centre-back Joe Rodon in the summer, while Toby Alderweireld and Eric Dier have formed a positive partnership at the heart of the backline.

Perisic turned down

Mourinho is reportedly no longer interested in Ivan Perisic, who he was strongly linked with in the past.

Mourinho was pictured on a trip to Croatia when he was manager of Manchester United. Since then, Perisic has consistently been linked with uniting with Mourinho, though he spent last season with Bayern Munich on loan after falling out of favour with Inter Milan.

In the summer, Perisic returned to Inter and has since failed to establish himself in Antonio Conte's plans, again inspiring links with Mourinho and Spurs.

However, InterLive via Sport Witness reports that Mourinho is no longer keen on the 31-year-old and does not want to sign him in the January transfer window. The report adds that the club agrees with Mourinho.

Marine talking points

Spurs came through a historic FA Cup tie with Marine on Sunday afternoon unscathed. The eighth-tier side entered the tie with the greatest distance between two clubs in FA Cup history, but Spurs were consummately professional, scoring four goals in the first half to put to bed the fairytale.

Writing for football.london, Alasdair Gold highlighted some talking points from the 5-0 victory.

Chief among them was praise for the tie in general as advert of what the FA Cup should be. This was a classic FA Cup tie and a testament to the uniqueness of the competition.

From a Spurs perspective, there were excellent performances from Carlos Vinicius and Lucas Moura, the two Brazilians gaining confidence from their respective strikes.

Meanwhile, 16-year-old Alfie Devine made his Spurs debut, becoming the youngest player to play in a competitive fixture for the club at just 16 years and 163 days old, while Harvey White also impressed in midfield.

Finally, Dele Alli's performance was especially positive, with Mourinho singling out the midfielder for his positive display afterwards.
