Tottenham evening headlines as Mauricio Pochettino opens up on Spurs, Sergio Reguilon offered

Here are the Tottenham Hotspur evening headlines on Thursday, September 3.

Spurs offered Spanish left-back

Tottenham, and Arsenal have both been offered Real Madrid left-back Sergio Reguilon this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano, speaking on the Last Word on Spurs podcast.

Reguilon spent the 2019/20 season on loan at fellow La Liga side, Sevilla, and helped the side win the Europa League recently.

Despite the Spaniard’s strong season in Seville, it appears he is not part of Zinedine Zidane’s plans at Madrid next season.

Chelsea were heavily linked with a move for Reguilon, until they completed the deal to sign Ben Chilwell recently, and now Arsenal and Spurs have been offered the left-back, according to Romano - but neither side has made an official bid just yet.

Pochettino opens up on Spurs sacking

Former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is not blaming anyone for his sacking from north London last year.

Pochettino was relieved of his duties in November after a poor start to the campaign, despite it being just months after he led Spurs to their first-ever Champions League final.

Speaking to 90 Minutes magazine, Pochettino would not pin the blame on anyone: “Relationships are broken due to the responsibility of both parties. I do not think there was a culprit. The managers survive by winning games.

“For five and a half years, we fought for a clear objective, which was to win and meet certain economic parameters to make the club viable. Today, they have one of the most beautiful stadiums. I wanted glory, to win a title, but we missed it.”

Spurs enquire about re-signing Eriksen

Tottenham have enquired about re-signing Christian Eriksen from Inter Milan, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Eriksen only left Spurs for Inter just six months ago, but things haven’t quite gone to plan for the Dane in Italy.

However, Romano does not believe a deal will happen - but explained that Daniel Levy has enquired about his former star.

Romano said: “To be honest with you, my answer will be no. But the truth is that like two weeks ago, one of my sources told me Tottenham were asking to take Christian Eriksen back, but immediately after, like two hours after, I spoke with Inter and they told me there is no chance to see Christian Eriksen back at Tottenham.”
