Tottenham evening headlines as Kane wants success under 'winner' Mourinho, Bale's mood change

Here are your Tottenham Hotspur evening headlines for Thursday, November 12.

Kane says Spurs are ready to “achieve things”

Harry Kane believes Tottenham are ready to “achieve things” under Jose Mourinho, who was hired a year ago to replace Mauricio Pochettino.

Spurs have won just three trophies in 29 years and their latest drought has lasted more than a decade. However, Mourinho was appointed to end this disastrous streak, and Kane believes the team is on the verge of doing so.

“We have got players who have won things in the changing room,” the England captain told Spurs TV.

Jose Mourinho press conference following 1-0 win vs West Brom

“We have got good experience in the changing room, good leaders in the changing room, and I feel like we are at a place now where if we get it right mentally, we can achieve things, but we are not getting carried away.

“Obviously Jose is a winner at every level, he has come in with that aura about him and he wants to win things here. It is just installing that confidence into the team, he is a great man, with great experience, so [that] us as players can only look at that and take confidence from that.

“We have had a great relationship since he walked through the door.”

Tottenham's second double act impress

The partnership of Son Heung-min and Kane has served Spurs wonderfully during the opening period of this season. But Mourinho also has another duo he can count on: Sergio Reguilon and Gareth Bale.

As Rob Guest writes for football.london, Reguilon and Bale linked up for Tottenham’s winner against Brighton and Hove Albion earlier this season, the left-back providing a delicious cross for the latter to head home.

Reguilon has admitted Bale was an inspiration of his, with the pair having already been teammates at Real Madrid.

“Bale has been an idol for me since that game against Inter,” explained Reguilon via BBC Sport. “Since that game in the Champions League I started to follow him, to watch YouTube videos of him and I became a big fan.

“I bought his shirts, his books – everything about him. And now being able to be here with him, in the club that raised him.

“I showed him on the plane the tweets that I wrote to him, and the pictures that I have from him, and he enjoyed that.”

Guest writes that if the pair can continue to link up as the season progresses, Tottenham's play will go to the next level. You can read his full analysis here.

Bale’s mood changed since Spurs return

Wales caretaker manager Rob Page says that Bale’s mood has changed since he made the switch from Madrid to north London in the summer.

Bale was notoriously unsettled in Madrid, holding up a banner while on international duty last year which read, “Wales. Gold. Madrid. In the order”.

Now on international duty again, Page says Bale is much fitter and happier after he returned to Spurs on a season-long loan in the summer.

“I have had a conversation with Gareth and he is rearing to go and is fighting fit”, he said. “If I am honest since I have been involved with the squad, it is the first time he has been at a club where he seems to be enjoying his football and his training.

“He looks fit and feels fit. It is good to have a fully fit Gareth Bale involved in the squad.”
