Tottenham evening headlines as Kane is backed to smash Premier League record and Milik latest

Good evening, Tottenham fans. Here are your evening headlines for Saturday, October 31.

Kane backed to break assist record

Tottenham striker Harry Kane has been tipped to break the single-season Premier League assist record currently held by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.

Martin Keown, who played alongside Henry at Arsenal when the Frenchman set the record of 20 assists in the 2002/03 season – since matched by De Bruyne at Manchester City last term – believes the Tottenham striker will break it after his exceptional start to the campaign.

Kane’s flick-on for Son Heung-min’s match-winning header at Burnley was his eighth assist of the season, the vast majority of which have been for the South Korean international.

Mourinho frustrated with players as Spurs lose out to Royal Antwerp

"We've seen what Roberto Firmino does for Liverpool – how he drops into those pockets of space and has willing runners in Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, who start wide but come inside," wrote Keown in his Daily Mail column.

"Kane, likewise, has fast-paced forwards who he can pick out. That's been Son of late – most notably in that 5-2 win over Southampton when Kane took advantage of the hosts' high line to assist his team-mate four times.

"But now he has Gareth Bale, too. Son and Bale could become Tottenham's inside forwards with Kane applying those golden passes into their paths."

Tottenham lead Milik chase

Reports in Italy suggest Tottenham are well-placed to sign Napoli forward Arkadiusz Milik in January.

Calciomercato, via Sport Witness, has reported the Poland international is keen to leave the Serie A club, who have given him the green light to depart mid-season.

Milik, 26, is into the final year of his contract with Napoli, who are keen to receive a fee before he becomes a free agent next summer.

Having joined from Ajax in 2016, the striker has struck 48 goals in 122 appearances for Napoli, but he hasn't been registered to play in Serie A or the Coppa Italia this season.

What lockdown means for Spurs' Europa League fixtures

With the government expected to announce a new national lockdown in England next week, the world of football has potentially been thrown into chaos.

There is no suggestion domestic fixtures will be hit by the new restrictions, but there could potentially be complications for sides overseas.

As things currently stand, European matches are able to go ahead due to the government’s allowance that cross-border elite sport is still permitted.

But if the guidance changes, clubs may be unable to host clubs from foreign countries.

It’s expected that the new lockdown restrictions will come into place on Wednesday, while Tottenham are scheduled to face Bulgarian side Ludogorets on Thursday.
