Tottenham evening headlines as Juventus to offer three players, Jose Mourinho transfer chat

Here are your Tottenham evening headlines for September 4.

Hojbjerg reveals discussions with new manager Mourinho

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has admitted that talking to Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho helped him commit to a move to his new club.

The Danish midfielder, who impressed for Southampton before making the switch to London this summer, also spoke of conversations with compatriot Christian Eriksen.

But it was Mourinho’s encouragement that truly made the 25-year-old feel wanted.

“We have had some really good conversations where Mourinho has told me I have to make the team better and take responsibility,” he told Ekstra Bladet .

“When a manager with such a CV and ambitions wants you, it is difficult not to jump on the horse. So, in that way, it was not very complicated in the end to choose Tottenham.”

Should Spurs look at Diego Costa?

On Eriksen’s words of advice, Hojbjerg added: “I called Christian and had a chat. I had some questions that I would have had clarified. And that was really positive,” he told Ekstra Bladet while on international duty.

“The talk I had with Christian, strengthened my desire and feeling to move to Tottenham.”

Six players Spurs could sell to raise raise funds

Tottenham will need to sell players if they are to make any more significant signings in the weeks before the transfer window shuts.

Hojbjerg, Matt Doherty and Joe Hart have been brought in, but Mourinho will no doubt hope to further add to his squad ahead of the new Premier League season.

The coronavirus pandemic continues to have a financial impact on clubs in the top flight, and Spurs will be hit by plans to only partially open stadiums to fans in October.

Here we took a look at six players Tottenham could cash in on over the next few weeks.

Juventus to offer three players in exchange for Ndombele

Juventus intend to offer Spurs three players in a swap deal to sign midfielder Tanguy Ndombele, according to Calciomercato.

The Frenchman has struggled to establish himself at Tottenham after joining in a £55m deal from Lyon last summer.

Ndombele appears to have a fractious relationship with Mourinho, who has clearly been unimpressed by his performances since taking over from Mauricio Pochettino.

And it has led to rumours of a potential exit before the close of the transfer window, with Juventus reportedly interested.

The Serie A champions could look to offer Federico Bernardeschi, Douglas Costa and Aaron Ramsey in exchange for Ndombele.

New Juventus manager Andrea Pirlo is believed to be looking to strengthen his midfield, and the three aforementioned players are deemed surplus to requirements.
