Tottenham evening headlines as Jose Mourinho outlines Dane Scarlett plan

Here are your Tottenham evening headlines for Thursday, February 25th.

Mourinho's plan for Scarlett

Tottenham eased their way into the next round of the Europa League with an 8-1 aggregate victory over Austrian side Wolfsberger.

After a 4-1 triumph in the first leg, Jose Mourinho's side completed the job on Wednesday evening by hitting four more against their opponents.

Dane Scarlett, still just 16, made an impact after coming off the bench to contribute an assist and Mourinho heaped praise upon the teenager after the match, with his eyes lighting up in the future.

The Portuguese boss hinted at his plans for the future, stating: "Next season he has to be a first team player. Immense talent. Very good physical development."

Berbatov issues Mourinho verdict

Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Dimitar Berbatov believes Spurs' season can be saved by lifting the Carabao Cup in April.

Spurs have seen their Premier League campaign stutter this season and, while progression into the next round of the Europa League has been secured, questions have been asked regarding Mourinho's future.

However, Berbatov believes the season can be saved by glory at Wembley later this year: "Their form is really concerning. They now have bad momentum but at least they have the League Cup final to prepare for as that could save their season.

"It is a big ask for them to finish in the top four now. You cannot write them off completely in the Premier League, as teams can return to form, but it is going to be challenging for them."

Man City told to sign Kane

Former Crystal Palace striker Clinton Morrison, a boyhood Tottenham fan, has stated that Manchester City should sign Harry Kane.

The England international has regularly been touted for a transfer away from north London, with the likes of Manchester United and Real Madrid previously linked with a move for his services.

City are believed to be in the market for a striker, with Sergio Aguero's future in doubt and Gabriel Jesus struggling for form, and Kane is the man they've been told to sign.

“I have been a Tottenham fan for years. I was a ball boy there when I was 14 years of age. It pains me to say this, but if I am Pep Guardiola, I am going to get Harry Kane. Without a shadow of a doubt.

“If Harry Kane is in that Man City team, he goes and scores 40 goals a season without a shadow of a doubt.”
