Here are the Tottenham evening headlines on Saturday, September 12.
Kane backed to win Golden Boot
Spurs striker Harry Kane has been tipped to win the Golden Boot ahead of the start of a new Premier League season.
Tottenham get their campaign underway against Everton on Sunday, having already seen rivals Arsenal get off to a winning start at Fulham.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was amongst the goal scorers there, and already the race to finish as the division’s top scorer has begun.
Kane will have aspirations of managing it this year after an injury-hit 2019-20 season. Even with weeks spent on the sidelines, the 27-year-old still managed to hit 18 league goals.
But Reach PLC’s football writers have backed Kane to overcome competition from the likes of Aubameyang and Jamie Vardy and finish as the Golden Boot winner.
Mourinho still has decisions to make ahead of Everton opener
Jose Mourinho will no doubt have put plenty of preparations in place for the visit of Carlo Ancelotti’s new look Everton on Sunday.
Spurs get their season underway with what could be a tricky fixture, particularly given the Toffees’ additions of James Rodriguez and Allan.
For Tottenham fans, there are still some unanswered questions surrounding certain areas of the team. It’s not yet clear what formation Mourinho will go with, or whether he will opt to start with Steven Bergwijn or Lucas Moura, for example.
We took a look at some of the dilemmas the Spurs boss faces ahead of kick off.
Spurs linked with move for Verona defender
Tottenham have reportedly moved into the picture to sign Hellas Verona defender Marash Kumbulla.
L’Arena report that Mourinho is interested in signing the youngster, who has been on the radar of several other Premier League clubs.
Everton, Chelsea and both Manchester clubs have been linked with Kumbulla in the past, while Inter, Roma and Lazio are amongst the interested parties in Italy.
But Mourinho is now said to be keen on the 20-year-old, even if no concrete offers have been made.
Verona are expected to demand €28m for Kumbulla, which could prove a sticking point for a number of clubs given the financial impact of coronavirus.
