Tottenham evening headlines as Jose Mourinho drops Dele Alli selection hint

Here are your Tottenham headlines for Tuesday, February 9th.

Mourinho's Dele Alli hint

Jose Mourinho believes Dele Alli can take his place on the Tottenham bench against Everton in the FA Cup on Wednesday evening.

The midfielder has not featured since the third-round victory over Marine last month due to injury, while there has also been a wealth of speculation regarding his future.

However, Mourinho has hinted that Alli's return is on the cusp of making his comeback and it could come as a cameo in the FA Cup.

"Dele trained yesterday and well. Long time away. Can he play tomorrow? I don't know. Not injured but not fit. Can he help us? To have him on the bench, it's something I'll have to ask him. I think he can."

Predicted Spurs XI

Looking ahead to the FA Cup clash against Everton, our Spurs writers have selected their predicted teams for the match.

With Manchester City in the Premier League at the weekend, it's likely to be a situation where Jose Mourinho's shuffles his deck.

As such, it could see a rare opportunity for Gareth Bale and Eric Dier could also return, while Dele Alli may earn a cameo off the bench on his return from injury.

Hasenhuttl coy on Ings talks

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has remained coy on contract talks for Danny Ings, amid interest from Tottenham and Manchester City in the forward.

The 28-year-old is eyeing a move to a Champions League club and Spurs are long-term suitors for the former Liverpool man.

While Southampton want to retain his services, Hasenhuttl remained tight-lipped on the situation: “We are in negotiations with the player.

"There is nothing more to say about that. If there are any rumours out there, it's not on me to comment. It's always coming from the same direction. It doesn't make sense to comment.

“Everyone knows that he is an important player for us. He wants to stay with us. There is not a reason to speak about it here with the media.”
