Shearer on 'ultimate team player' Kane
Alan Shearer has described Tottenham star Harry Kane as the 'ultimate team player' after a slight change to his role this season.
Kane has been used in a slightly deeper position by Jose Mourinho this season - and so far has chipped in with nine goals and 10 assists in 14 Premier League appearances for Spurs.
Speaking on his BBC Sport column, Shearer said: "It is the England captain's all-round game that has really impressed me in the past few months, though, because I have noticed what he does at the other end of the pitch too.
"I still see Kane as a goalscorer - you have to, because of the sheer number he gets - but it shows how good he is that he is also a creator and defender for Spurs.
"It is rare to see such an effective, attacking all-rounder in any circumstances, but on top of that he is the ultimate team player too, willing to do whatever is asked of him.
"We already knew Kane was a phenomenal goalscorer before this season, and it is nothing new for him to drop deep to link up play either, but what he does in his own penalty area is often overlooked."
Mourinho drops hint over Spurs team
Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho has said that his line-up for Wednesday night's Carabao Cup quarter-final clash with Stoke City will be a 'mixture'.
Mourinho has rotated a lot this season due to Spurs' commitments in the Premier League and the Europa League and the Portuguese coach has now revealed that the trip to Stoke will give him a chance to rest a few players.
The cup tie will be the north London side's seventh out of nine games set to be played in the month of December.
"I think a mixture. I think we need some players who need to play and deserve to play," Mourinho explained.
"From the ones that are playing more times, others where we don’t have great options to make changes and have to keep them but I will try to give a little bit of a rest to two or three."

Neville makes bold Son claim
Gary Neville has selected Tottenham forward Son Heung-min over Liverpool star Sadio Mane in his Premier League Team of the Year.
Mane was part of a Reds side that cruised to Premier League glory last season, but Son's efforts for Spurs have been slightly more impressive, Neville has claimed.
The Manchester United legend said on Sky Sports: "You cannot criticise Son or Mane, they're both absolutely world class. Every club in the world would want Son or Mane playing for them.
"Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, Liverpool, every club in the world would want those two players. Plug the stats for goals and assists in, Son has just done better in a team that isn't as good as Liverpool but it's no reflection on Mane, he has been brilliant."
