Tottenham evening headlines as Eriksen is put up for sale and Lucas Alario makes transfer claim

Good evening, Tottenham fans. Here are your evening headlines for Sunday, November 1.

Leverkusen striker turned down Spurs

The agent of Bayer Leverkusen striker Lucas Alario has claimed the Argentina international could have moved to Tottenham in the summer.

However, the 28-year-old decided against a loan move to north London because he didn’t want to sit on the bench behind first-choice forward Harry Kane.

Alario has remained at the Bundesliga club, for whom he scored 12 goals in 36 appearances last term, while Spurs instead brought in Carlos Vinicius on a season-long loan from Benfica.

“We had opportunities to go out on loan and he chose to stay. I believe that today Lucas can be in a top team,” agent Pedro Aldave told Argentinian outlet TNT Sports (via HITC).

“It is easier to make the leap from Argentina to a top team, on the other hand if you already came to Europe it is more difficult… we had the chance of Tottenham who is top, but to go look at the matches from the bench, it doesn’t work."

Inter already want to sell Christian Eriksen

Italian outlet Calciomercato claims Serie A giants Inter Milan will look to offload Christian Eriksen just a year after his move from Tottenham.

The Danish playmaker, 28, has struggled to stake a regular claim in Antonio Conte’s first-choice XI at the San Siro, with the majority of his appearances coming off the bench.

Eriksen was a key figure under Mauricio Pochettino at Spurs, but a return to the Premier League doesn’t appear to be on the cards, with several of Inter’s Serie A rivals cited as potentially interested.

Milan, Lazio, Juventus and Roma are all mentioned in the report as clubs that are keeping tabs on the situation and may look to sign him in January if he’s made available by Inter.

Reports elsewhere have claimed that Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are also interested.

Predicted XI for tonight’s Brighton clash

Tottenham correspondent Alasdair Gold has given his prediction of who Jose Mourinho will opt for in tonight’s match at home to Brighton.

Kane and Son Heung-min are expected to return to the starting XI after featuring from the bench in Thursday’s 1-0 defeat to Royal Antwerp.

Eric Dier and Tanguy Ndombele didn’t travel to Belgium as they were allowed to rest and are also expected to feature in what should be a largely unchanged team from Monday’s 1-0 victory at Burnley.

One potential change could be at left-back as summer signing Sergio Reguilon potentially in place of Ben Davies, who was culpable of losing the ball for Antwerp’s match-winner in midweek.
