Here are the Tottenham Hotspur evening headlines for Monday, October 12.

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium handed approval for another increase in capacity

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has been approved for a capacity increase by Haringey Council.

Fans cannot currently attend matches due to the coronavirus, but that hasn’t stopped Spurs from planning for the future.

Now Haringey Council have approved an application to increase capacity by 547 seats to 62,850 which gives Spurs the second-biggest stadium capacity in the Premier League.

The additional seats will be located across lower, mid and upper tiers and in the huge south stand.

Sergio Reguilon’s remarkable training sessions show why he’s one of world’s fastest footballers

Sergio Regulion has explained how he kept fit during lockdown as he revealed he is reaching speeds that would make him one of the fastest players on the planet.

Regulion, 23, joined the club from Real Madrid this summer alongside teammate Gareth Bale in a double deal.

Speaking to Spanish fitness website Corredor in April he revealed his training routine during lockdown.

“We have an application with which they send us the training sessions, which are very hard and last about two hours,” he explained.

“I put the tape at 20km per hour because it is the maximum and I have to run about three minutes at that speed to get to notice the breathlessness I feel when I’m playing a game.”

“I have run at 35km per hour during a match. I do a lot of series at 20km per hour because it is the only way to have a point of fatigue similar to that of a game.”

That pace of 35km per hour puts him as one of the fastest in football.

Others that have hit that speed include Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (35.5km/h), former Spurs star Kyle Walker (35.21km/h), ex-Manchester City winger Leroy Sane (35.04km/h) and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah (35km/h), while Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman also recorded 35km/h.

Dele Alli backed by team-mate Eric Dier

Eric Dier has spoken highly of teammate Dele Alli during an interview with The Guardian .

Dier joined Spurs from Sporting in 2014 and has grown to be one of the club’s more important players during that time.

He has also forged a strong bond with teammate Dele Alli, who he believes remains a good player despite currently being out of form.

The 26-year-old told The Guardian about Alli: “I wasn’t in it (England team) for a year and a bit. It’s definitely possible for someone of his quality.

“He’s still a fantastic player. You don’t lose that overnight. He’s going through a difficult time. There’s always going to be moments like these.

“Everyone has them in their careers and Dele’s got a fantastic personality. I’m sure he’s going to get down to work and try and get back to where he was a year ago or so.

“It’s really in his hands and I’m looking forward to seeing his reaction over the next couple of months. I’m sure he’s going to be highly motivated.”
