Here are your Tottenham Hotspur evening headlines for Monday, July 20.
Duo set to leave at the end of the season
Tottenham duo Jan Vertonghen and Michel Vorm look set to leave the club at the end of the season.
Vertonghen and Vorm signed short-term deals to cover the end of the 2019/20 season following the coronavirus lockdown, but Football Insider are reporting that the pair will be leaving Spurs once the campaign has been concluded.
Vertonghen, in particular, has been a key player for the club over the years.
He will leave having made 315 appearances in all competitions, with his 232 in the Premier League the 11th most any player has made for Spurs.
Redknapp on key area Tottenham need to address
It will be fascinating to see what transfer business Tottenham conduct during Jose Mourinho’s first summer at the club.
Former Spurs player Jamie Redknapp believes they will see the best of Giovani Lo Celso next season, but that Mourinho will be looking to increase his midfield options nonetheless.
“I am sure they are going to buy someone,” Redknapp said on Sky Sports.
“They are not having [Tanguy] Ndombele. That is obvious, so there will be players I am sure coming into the midfield.”
Leicester player on his way to Tottenham?
Spurs are said to be long-term fans of Leicester City’s Demarai Gray, having reportedly considered making a move for the winger in the past.
And, after he was pictured talking with Mourinho after the Foxes were defeated at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium yesterday, the rumour mill has gone into overdrive.
The 24-year-old only has 12 months remaining on his contract so Leicester may have to sell him this summer if they wish to avoid losing him on a free transfer.
Could he be heading to north London?
