Tottenham evening headlines as Danny Rose given transfer advice, Gareth Bale wants FA Cup outing

Here are your Tottenham Hotspur evening headlines from Friday, January 8.

Rose urged to join West Brom on loan

Danny Rose should try and revive his career with a loan move to West Bromwich Albion this month, according to former Spurs striker Darren Bent.

Rose has been frozen out of the first team picture at Tottenham by Jose Mourinho and is out of contract at the end of the season.

He has been linked with a temporary switch to the Baggies and Bent thinks that would be a good move for him.

“Danny Rose, a player who is too good of a player not to be playing, he’s got to be playing football,” Bent told Football Insider.

“If he plays from now until the summer really, really well, that will open up doors more for him in the summer and more takers, even if he doesn’t want to stay at West Brom. It’s about him playing on the pitch.

“We’ve seen it, the season Spurs got to the Champions League final, the second half of the season, he was their best player, he was one of the best players, but all of a sudden it just hasn’t happened for him. Hopefully, he’ll go and start playing some games again.”

Bale keen to play against Marine

Gareth Bale is back fit and wants to feature for Tottenham in their FA Cup third round tie against Marine on Sunday.

The Welshman has not played for Spurs since scoring in the 3-1 Carabao Cup win over Stoke City on December 23 due to a calf injury.

However, it now appears that the 31-year-old is returning to fitness and Jose Mourinho confirmed that he had returned to Tottenham training on Friday.

“He trained today for the first time with us, so tomorrow is the second time and tomorrow after training we will make a decision,” Mourinho said.

“What I can say and it’s also a way to show you the way we are looking, the respect we have for this fixture, is that Gareth told me he would like to go and would like to play so if tomorrow if the feelings are positive, Gareth will come."

Marine confirm unusual situation for Spurs preparation

Tottenham’s players will be getting changed in the bar area of the Marine Travel Arena before Sunday’s FA Cup tie against the non-League side.

Spurs are used to the luxurious settings of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but this weekend’s match against the Northern Premier League North/West Division team will have a different setting.

"They won't be getting changed in the dressing room, they'll be getting changed in the bar area. We normally get changed in there," said Marine manager Neil Young.

"They still have to use the away dressing rooms to shower but in terms of changing they'll have a fairly big bar area to change and we'll be back in the smaller dressing room because there's not as many of us."
