Tottenham evening headlines as Callum Wilson targets Spurs transfer, Barcelona youngster eyed

Here are your Tottenham Hotspur evening headlines for Tuesday, September 1.

Spurs target pushing for transfer from relegated side

Callum Wilson is pushing for a move to Tottenham Hotspur, with Jose Mourinho keen on signing the Bournemouth forward this summer.

The 28-year-old suffered relegation from the Premier League with the Cherries at the end of last season and now Wilson is eager to leave the Vitality Stadium.

Bournemouth want £30 million for the player and the Chronicle claims Wilson is ready to push for a move away from the south-coast club with Spurs reportedly willing to match the striker’s £75,000-a-week wages, according to the Daily Express.

Mourinho has prioritised the signing of a new striker this summer to provide Harry Kane with some competition for a starting spot.

Tottenham told to up offer for Barcelona youngster

Barcelona have told Tottenham they will have to improve their offer for Lucas de Vega if the north London club are to sign the youngster this summer.

Spanish publication AS report Spurs have made a move for the Brazilian with a bid of £2million lodged for the 20-year-old.

It’s claimed Barcelona are hopeful of being able to keep de Vega, with Sporting Gijon, Malaga and Tenerife also linked with the player, but that an offer of around £7million could be enough to persuade them to sell.

De Vega’s Barcelona contract includes a release clause of £90 million despite having never made a first-team appearance for the Catalan club.

Spurs learn Europa League qualification fate

Tottenham face a trip to either Macedonia or Romania should they make it through to the third round of Europa League qualification.

Monday saw Spurs drawn away to Bulgarian side Lokomotiv Plovdiv in the second round of qualifying for the Europa League and now the draw has been made for the third stage.

Mourinho’s men will take on Botosani of Romania or Shkendija of Macedonia should they make it past Lokomotiv, with all matches to be played behind closed doors.

Tottenham will take on Lokomotiv Plovdiv on September 17 and will play their next qualifier on September 24 should they win.
