Tottenham evening headlines as Bournemouth make centre-back offer, Eriksen delivers Kane verdict

Good evening, Tottenham fans. Here are your evening headlines for Tuesday, September 8.

Bournemouth make offer for forgotten Spurs man

Bournemouth are keen to add Championship experience to their defence this summer and are considering a Tottenham defender who has spent the last two campaigns on loan in the second tier.

Spurs manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly happy to make do without Cameron Carter-Vickers and Football Insider claims the Cherries have made a bid to take the American international on loan.

The 22-year-old impressed at Swansea City in the 2018/19 campaign and split last season between Stoke City and Luton Town.

Bournemouth have made a number of sales over the summer, including Nathan Ake’s £40m departure to Manchester City, and are in need of defensive reinforcements as they aim to bounce straight back to the top flight under Jason Tindall.

They have also lost long-serving defender Simon Francis, so may be keen to invest some of the £75 million brought in via the sales of Ake, Aaron Ramsdale and Callum Wilson.

Tottenham predicted XI vs Everton

Dier: Hojbjerg is going to bring a lot

Tottenham haven’t been hugely active in the market ahead of the upcoming Premier League campaign, but Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg was a priority even before the transfer window opened.

The Danish midfielder joined from Southampton in August, with Kyle Walker-Peters moving in the opposite direction, while Joe Hart and Matt Doherty have followed him to north London.

And Eric Dier, who is due to come up against his new club-mate when England take on Denmark in the UEFA Nations League tonight, has been full of praise for Hojbjerg.

“He's going to bring a lot to the Tottenham team,” Dier said.

“He has attributes that we've been missing. He's very professional, he has a fantastic attitude and work rate and I think he brings leadership qualities as well.

Hojbjerg played more than 100 Premier League games for Southampton, captaining the side on multiple occasions under Ralph Hasenuttl.

He also has more than 30 caps for Denmark and played the full 90 minutes in their weekend defeat at home to Belgium.

Eriksen’s Kane comments will delight Tottenham fans

The ‘All or Nothing: Tottenham Hotspur’ documentary has given Spurs supporters new insights into those at the club, but it is also telling them a little bit about some individuals no longer in north London.

The Prime Video docuseries, which follows the club throughout the 2019/20 season, also features players who have departed over the last two windows.

One of these players is Christian Eriksen, who moved to Inter Milan in January, and newly-released footage of the show features the Danish midfielder.

In episode five, Eriksen is sat with Harry Kane and Ben Davies as the players discuss transfer windows past, present and future, and attention turns to the 2011 window in which the entire Premier League spent just £225m between them.

"That's Harry's right foot, £200m," Eriksen said in response to the stat, prompting Kane to joke “not now with the hammy, mate”.

Eriksen’s value of Kane chimes with the relationship the pair had on the pitch at Tottenham, and may well endear the Dane to Spurs fans after a difficult last few months for him at the club.
