Tottenham evening headlines as Belotti approach revealed and Skipp details Mourinho conversation

Here are the latest Tottenham Hotspur evening headlines for Wednesday, October 7.

Spurs keeping a close eye on loan starlet Skipp

Jose Mourinho has remained in contact with young loanee Oliver Skipp to monitor his progress at Championship promotion hopefuls Norwich City.

Skipp, 20, signed a new contract with Spurs before embarking on a season-long loan at Carrow Road under Daniel Farke.

The midfielder has started four matches for the Canaries and was voted the club's player of the month for September.

“He’s kept in regular contact with me,” the 20-year-old told the Eastern Daily Press. “He spoke to me just before I went, wishing me well, and a couple of times since – as are other people from the club, Steve Hitchen (technical performance director).

“So it’s really nice that they’re still keeping in touch and seeing how I’m progressing. But from a personal point of view, really nice but I would have preferred a few more points rather than Player of the Month!"

Latest injury news and return dates ahead of West Ham

Next up for Spurs after the international break is a London derby against West Ham United.

Jose Mourinho’s side will host the Hammers on Sunday, October 18 ahead of a jam-packed schedule which will look to accommodate Spurs’ Europa League campaign.

The Portuguese will hope he can call on as many players as possible and with that in mind, you can read the latest injury report here.

Spurs approached Torino for Serie A star

Tottenham approached Torino for striker Andrea Belotti, according to the club’s technical director.

Spurs have been in the market for a striker this summer in a bid to take the pressure off Harry Kane. They eventually agreed a loan deal for Benfica striker Carlos Vinicius, but it would seem they entertained a move for Belotti first.

“Belotti? I would like him to stay at Torino for life because he has all the values to be a mainstay and I hope he ends his career at Torino,” Torino’s technical director, David Vagnati, told Sky Sports.

“There was a chat with Tottenham for him, but nothing serious because if Tottenham had really wanted to take him, they would have arrived with different arguments.”

Belotti finished last season with 16 goals for Torino in Serie A.
