Tottenham evening headlines as Bayern Munich star is monitored, Neville hails Harry Kane

Good evening, Tottenham fans. Here are your evening headlines for Monday, November 9.

Spurs interested in Bayern defender

Tottenham are considering a move for Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng, according to Bild.

Several clubs are believed to be monitoring the 32-year-old, who is out of contract at the end of the season.

Boateng is reportedly refusing to negotiate a new deal with the Bundesliga champions, and Spurs boss Jose Mourinho has identified him as a potential target.

The Germany international remains a regular for Bayern, starting six of his side’s seven league games so far this season.

Neville hails ‘brilliant’ Kane

Gary Neville has heaped praise on Harry Kane after the Spurs talisman scored his 150th Premier League goal.

The striker netted a late winner as Tottenham edged to victory over West Bromwich Albion on Sunday. And Neville made clear his admiration for the England captain.

“The only thing that can stop Harry Kane doing everything and anything he wants to do in the game is injury,” he told the Gary Neville Podcast. “It's the only thing that can stop him.

“Alan Shearer is definitely the best striker in Premier League history in terms of his goal record was outstanding. He was the best striker I played with for England, in terms of number nine.

“Wayne Rooney I'd put up there with him but Alan Shearer was an outstanding striker. Harry Kane has so much similarity in his game in terms of mentality.

“Ice cold, doesn't seem to flinch if he misses a chance, doesn't seem to flinch if a goalkeeper saves one, he'll come back and do the right thing, almost like a process, scoring a goal is like a process for them.

“They know where the target is and they'll hit that target and that position that is most likely to get them the goal and it is methodical. He is brilliant, Harry Kane.

“He's a great professional, England are lucky to have him.”

Dier reaches Spurs milestone

Eric Dier made his 250th appearance for Tottenham in Sunday’s 1-0 win at West Brom, an achievement which further vindicated Jose Mourinho’s faith in the England international.

Dier was on the periphery of the Spurs first team in the final months of the Mauricio Pochettino era and was linked with a move away from the north London club.

Mourinho, who tried to sign Dier when in charge of Manchester United, was quick to reinstate the 26-year-old and he has proven himself a reliable performer in the heart of defence.

“The work with the manager has been great because you know where you stand every game and he wants to win it and the focus is completely on that," Dier said earlier this month on working under Mourinho.

"That’s his focus, no matter what the competition is. That’s always his focus and our focus."
