Tottenham evening headlines as Bale is told to make transfer decision return and Kane setback

Here are your Spurs evening headlines for Friday, August 21.

Bale urged to re-join for Spurs amid Real Madrid uncertainty

Jurgen Klinsmann believes that Gareth Bale should call it a day at Real Madrid and return to Spurs this summer.

The Wales international endured another difficult campaign in the Spanish capital with limited game time under Zinedine Zidane and Klinsmann has urged the forward to move back to Spurs.

Speaking to talkSPORT , the Spurs legend said that a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium could be perfect for all parties involved.

He said: “Time goes by so fast as a player and you cannot waste it.

“This is the worst punishment for a player to be on the bench.

“The most important thing for every player is to be on the field and to play. When this doesn’t work out, sooner or later you have to come to a conclusion and consider a move.

“A player like him, we would like to admire him week in, week out on the television… as a Tottenham fan, I would love him to come back to Spurs.”

Kane set to miss start of pre-season training

Jose Mourinho will be without star man Harry Kane for the first stage of pre-season training after the striker was placed in quarantine.

The England international has been put in isolation at his home after returning from a family holiday in the Bahamas.

While Kane is expected to return to training next week, it makes preparation far from ideal with the season starting again on September 12.

Spurs face Everton on the opening day of the season and will be eager to see the striker return to match fitness by that time.

Despite missing Kane for training this week, Mourinho’s side will most likely see their star striker return without any issues before facing Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

Spurs confirm extra pre-season friendly before Premier League season

Spurs have confirmed that they will play Watford in an extra pre-season friendly before the start of the Premier League season next month.

It was announced earlier this week that they will face Everton on the opening day of fixtures but plenty of work needs to be done before that to ensure they can hit the ground running.

Mourinho will first see his side in pre-season action against League One side Ipswich Town on Saturday as they look to regain fitness before next month’s start.

Before facing Watford on September 5 , Spurs will also play Reading and Birmingham City with each side aiming to sharpen up before their respective leagues kick off in September.
