Tottenham evening headlines as Aurier reacts to AC Milan interest and Mourinho named best coach

Here are your Tottenham Hotspur headlines for the evening of Tuesday, August 4.

Aurier makes claim amid speculation over future

Serge Aurier has claimed “the best remains to come” amid speculation that he could leave Tottenham Hotspur and join Italian giants AC Milan.

The 27-year-old has been linked with a move to Serie A in the past week, with reports stating the Rossoneri have already started discussions with Aurier. “

We spoke to his agent last year, to be honest, now we’ll see how the next few weeks go,” AC Milan director Paolo Maldini said.

And Aurier has only swirled the speculation over his future by posting a cryptic message on his Instagram account.

He wrote: “I received a lot of love messages in this difficult time.

"I said thank you the best remains to come, thank you, thanks everyone," he posted in English before adding in French, "the work will resume slowly.”

Kane: We've got a lot more in the tank

Harry Kane finished the Premier League season with five goals in three games as Tottenham salvaged a top-six finish and the striker believes Spurs can carry that momentum into the 2020/21 season.

Head coach Jose Mourinho has a lot of work to do to point the club in the right direction again after a difficult 2019/20 campaign, but Kane believes his side are in a good position to pick up where they left off.

“I think it was important we finished this season strong and we can take that momentum forward,” Kane told Tottenham’s official site.

"It’s only going to be a short break and we’ll be straight back into it, so hopefully we can continue our form into next season.

“We know as a team we’ve a lot more in the tank and we can do better.

"That’s the feeling we’ll be going away with, a little bit of happiness in that we’ve achieved European football, but we know we’ve a lot to improve on.”

Mourinho hailed the best coach in football history

Former Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur striker Emmanuel Adebayor has described Mourinho as “the best coach in the history of football.”

The Togo international won the 2011 Copa del Rey while working under Mourinho at Real Madrid and believes the Portuguese is the right man to turn Tottenham around after a difficult season.

“I love Mourinho, we had a great relationship," the former striker told AS, via Goal.

"He was the one who brought me to Madrid, although it wasn't easy for him to find a place for me in the side.

“The only trophy I have ever won was at Madrid with him. Now he's at Tottenham and I wish him the best of luck.

"He is the best coach in the history of football."
