Tottenham defender Juan Foyth discusses his future career plans

Tottenham Hotspur defender Juan Foyth wants to return to Argentina but only after building a "long career" in Europe.

The 22-year-old has struggled for game time this season, with a couple of injuries as well as struggling to convince new manager Jose Mourinho.

The Argentina international was linked with a move away from the club in January and there will be speculation over his future again in the summer.

However, there is one place Foyth will not be heading to play just yet and that's the club Spurs signed him from - Estudiantes.

The Spurs defender took part in an Instagram Live session with Argentinean journalist Joaquín Tabares, and said he has an agreement with his friend Hertha Berlin star Santiago Ascacíbar.

"With Ruso we always say that we have to go back to Estudiantes, but now I think this is not the time, we are very young," said Foyth, as translated by Sport Witness.

"We have to make our career here in Europe and go back at a time when we can give more to the club."

Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo returned to the Argentinean side on loan this season.

“We swapped at a Singapore match in the pre-season. When the game was over I asked him: ‘Marcos, do we swap the shirt?’," he said.

"Always with good vibes, and what he showed by returning to Estudiantes is a great love for the club, leaving many things aside."
