Jan Vertonghen will see a neurologist on Thursday despite reporting no ill effects following a nasty head injury, Tottenham have confirmed.
The defender clashed heads with Toby Alderweireld in the first half of Tuesday's Champions League semi-final first leg loss to Ajax, coming off far worse with a suspected broken nose.
Vertonghen had to be carried to the dressing room less than minute after being given the all-clear to continue playing by Spurs coaches and the referee, Pochettino preventing his player from collapsing on the touchline as he retched violently.
Tottenham insist all Football Association concussion protocols were following correctly and the player was again cleared after further tests on Wednesday.
A statement read: "Tests today have been clear and testing will continue for the next few days.
"Additionally, as is standard Club policy with certain injuries, we shall also be seeking independent advice and Jan is due to see a neurologist, who specialises in elite athletes, tomorrow.
"The player has reported no ill-effects today."
