Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen aims dig at Arsenal as Spurs all-but seal top four spot - 'I'll take that'

Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen aimed a cheeky jibe at rivals Arsenal after their 1-1 draw with Brighton all-but guaranteed his side a top four finish.

Glenn Murray’s second half penalty earned the Seagulls a point at the Emirates, after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had opened the scoring from the spot, and left the Gunners needing a miraculous goal swing on the final day of the season to nab fourth place.

Arsenal would need to beat Burnley and hope Everton beat Tottenham, with an eight goal turnaround in their favour.

Unless that highly unlikely scenario plays out, Tottenham will join Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool, all of whom have already secured a top four spot, in the Champions League next season, though Arsenal could still qualify by winning the Europa League.

Vertonghen, who missed Spurs’ defeat to Bournemouth yesterday after being forced off injured in the Champions League defeat to Ajax, took to Twitter to mockingly thank his north London rivals, writing simply: ‘I’ll take that.’
