Tottenham defender Danny Rose puts Manchester United on alert with transfer admission

Manchester United might be tempted to revive their interest in the Tottenham defender Danny Rose after he admitted he could leave the Champions League runners-up this summer.

The 28-year-old left-back was previously a priority target for United but the club's need to strengthen in that position lessened this season due to Luke Shaw's revival.

Shaw's solid campaign earned him the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award as well as the Players' Player of the Year award.

However, the former Southampton player is United's only out-and-out left-back and might benefit from some competition for his position.

It is not clear whether Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would be interested in signing Rose but it certainly sounds as though he would be attainable.

"I don't know what the future holds now," Rose said after England's penalty shoot-out win over Switzerland in the UEFA Nations League third-place play-off.

"I'm looking forward to a break. If I'm back at Tottenham next season, great, if I'm not - great. I'll just have to wait and see.

"It's not about regular first-team football. I know my age and I know how the club's run in terms of if you get to a certain age they might look to ship you on.

"It has been no secret that my name has been mentioned quite a few times in terms of players moving on and I'll be just sitting tight over the next few weeks and just seeing what happens. Either way I'm prepared for whatever happens."
