Tottenham continue pursuit of Mauricio Pochettino as Daniel Levy given chance for PR boost

Here is your Tottenham Hotspur morning digest for Saturday, May 29

Daniel Levy's chance to win fans back

Tottenham are continuing the pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino over a sensational return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and, in doing so, chairman Daniel Levy has the perfect chance to win over skeptical fans.

Following Tottenham's role in The Super League and their awful 2020-21 campaign, bringing back the manager who took them to the 2019 Champions League final is a sure-fire way to get the supporters back on side and a PR boost.

After the disastrous Jose Mourinho era, Levy has the opportunity to put right the mistake he made in sacking Pochettino in the first place, so argues football.london's Tottenham Hotspur correspondent Alasdair Gold.

Spurs managerial options

Pochettino is not the only manager in the pipeline for Spurs.

If the audacious move to bring back the Argentine fails then the Tottenham hierarchy could return to their previous favoured candidate, Erik ten Hag of Ajax, or newly-unemployed Antonio Conte.

Alasdair Gold and Rob Guest have answered all your questions on the Tottenham managerial situation, transfer incomings and players who will exit the club at the end of their contracts this summer.

Harry Kane's future

It is no secret that Harry Kane has expressed a desire to compete for the very top honours in the game and at present he is not able to do that with Spurs.

With Kane suggesting he would like to play alongside Kevin De Bruyne at some point in his career, reports have been rife about the England captain pushing for an exit from Spurs to link up with the Belgian at Manchester City.

If Kane was to force through a move there are only two serious contenders for his signature in Manchester City and Manchester United.

However, Senior Writer for ESPN Gabriele Marcotti believes that Kane is unlikely to be able to depart Spurs this season, not due to his desire to reaming at the club but due to a combination of age, finance and Levy's tough negotiating tactics.
