Tottenham confirmed team vs West Ham: Gareth Bale on bench, Steven Bergwijn starts, no Dele Alli

Gareth Bale has been named on the bench by Jose Mourinho as Tottenham Hotspur host West Ham United in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

The 31-year-old is back in a Tottenham matchday squad for the first time in more than seven years and the fans will be hoping to see Bale make his second debut against the Hammers.

Steven Bergwijn is handed his first Premier League start of the season after impressing before the international break.

Mourinho has no Giovani Lo Celso, Eric Dier or Japhet Tanganga due to injury, while, such is the quality in Tottenham's squad now, Dele Alli and Erik Lamela miss out entirely on the squad.

Spurs face LASK in the Europa League on Thursday night in their first group stage game.

Serge Aurier gets the nod at right-back ahead of Matt Doherty after his excellent display at Manchester United, capped with a goal.

Mourinho has gone with the same midfield three that started at Old Trafford in Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Moussa Sissoko and Tanguy Ndombele.

New striker Carlos Vinicius makes his first appearance on the bench while the game came just too early for Joe Rodon, who joined from Swansea on Friday after the noon deadline for Premier League registration.

Erik Lamela misses out with a knock.

Here is the Spurs team Mourinho has chosen:

Lloris; Aurier, Alderweireld, Sanchez, Reguilon; Sissoko, Hojbjerg, Ndombele; Bergwijn, Kane, Son. Subs: Hart, Doherty, Davies, Winks, Bale, Lucas, Vinicius.
