Tottenham confirmed team vs Newcastle: Oliver Skipp starts with Hojbjerg and Romero injured

Antonio Conte has made five changes to his Tottenham Hotspur side to take on Newcastle United in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

Spurs were dismal in defeat at Manchester United on Wednesday night to end a run of three consecutive victories, and Eddie Howe's in-form Newcastle side present another tough assignment. The Magpies sit in sixth place in the Premier League table, just five points behind Tottenham in third, and have lost only one match this season.

Conte confirmed ahead of the game that Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison remain out injured and that with Lucas Moura not yet ready to start a game, he was likely to stick with the 3-5-2 formation.

He has done exactly that with five changes from the line-up that lost at Old Trafford. Oliver Skipp comes into the team for his first start of the season alongside Rodrigo Bentancur and Yves Bissouma for the match, with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg missing out with a small injury.

Clement Lenglet comes in for Ben Davies after back-to-back starts for the Welshman, while Davinson Sanchez steps in for Cristian Romero, who also misses out on the squad with a minor injury.

Both wing-backs have been rotated, with Ryan Sessegnon coming in for Ivan Perisic on the left and on the right Emerson Royal returns to the line-up following the end of his suspension, with Matt Doherty having had lots of game time in a short space of time.

Here is the team Conte has selected:

Lloris; Sanchez, Dier, Lenglet; Emerson, Skipp, Bissouma, Bentancur, Sessegnon; Kane, Son. Subs: Forster, Tanganga, Davies, Doherty, Spence, Perisic, White, Lucas, Gil.
