Tottenham confirm Giovani Lo Celso transfer as Argentine joins on loan

Tottenham have completed the signing of Giovani Lo Celso from Real Betis on a season-long loan.

The 23-year-old arrives at the club on a frantic transfer deadline day.

Lo Celso joins on an initial loan with an option to buy in a deal that could eventually be worth £55m.

Spurs had been locked in talks with Betis throughout the summer, reaching a breakthrough on Wednesday just 24 hours before the transfer deadline.

Lo Celso joined Betis on loan from PSG last summer, with the La Liga side take their option to make the move permanent in April for a reported fee of €22m.

He has now arrived in north London after scoring 16 times and providing six assists in Spain last season.

Lo Celso could be in contention to make his debut against Aston Villa on Saturday in their opening game of the new Premier League season.

Spurs are also close to wrapping up a deal for Fulham starlet Ryan Sessegnon while talks continue over a sensational £65m move for Dybala.
