Gedson Fernandes will wear the no.30 shirt for Tottenham after completing his move to north London.

Tottenham confirmed their first arrival of the January transfer window on Wednesday morning with Fernandes joining the club on an initial 18-month deal.

Spurs have the option to make the deal permanent for around £55millon the summer of 2021.

With Moussa Sissoko sidelined until April and with Tanguy Ndombele also struggling with injury, Jose Mourinho has been eager to bolster his options in the middle of the park.

21-year-old Fernandes picks up the no.30 squad number, previously held by on-loan goalkeeper Pau Lopez and Brazilian midfielder Sandro.

“I’m very happy today," he told the club's website. "For me it is one big dream to play for this big club. I will try to give my best for the club every day, every day in training, every game for this shirt.”

Fernandes could make his Spurs debut against Watford on Sunday.
