Tottenham close to signing Giovani Lo Celso from Real Betis in €60m deal

Tottenham are close to an agreement with Real Betis for the €60 million signing of Argentina midfielder Giovani Lo Celso.

Negotiations between the two clubs have gone on for much of the summer and a transfer had seemed close after Betis brought in Lyon’s Nabil Fekir as his replacement last month.

But the Seville-based side broke off talks last Sunday, with the two clubs no closer to an agreement and the Andalusians reportedly unhappy at Tottenham’s transfer tactics.

Betis fans called for Lo Celso to stay at an open training session on Tuesday, but Standard Sport understands Spurs have made a renewed bid for the 23-year-old and Betis are now ready to accept ahead of the Premier League transfer deadline on Thursday.

The final amounts are yet to be confirmed, but the transfer should be completed for around €60m, some way short of the €75m originally demanded by the La Liga outfit.

With the transfer imminent, Lo Celso will play no part in tonight’s friendly against Las Palmas.
