Tottenham chief 'confident' he can keep Harry Kane despite Man City transfer interest

Tottenham's director of football Fabio Paratici is 'confident' that he can keep Harry Kane at the club this summer, despite strong interest from Manchester City.

The England striker was linked with a £160m move to the Etihad Stadium this summer, with reports earlier this week that a deal was nearly done after Daniel Levy decided to let him leave.

Reports have changed as the week progressed though, with Tottenham denying that has ever been the case while City sources have stated that they wouldn't be willing to pay that much for the man who turns 28-year-old next week.

In addition to that, The Athletic are reporting that newly-appointed director of football Paratici is privately confident that he will be able to keep hold of last season's Golden Boot winner.

Kane has had injury problems in the past and Spurs believe that their valuation for the player will not be met by anyone - including Manchester City.

The sentiment was echoed by new manager Nuno Espirito Santo last week in his first press conference since joining the club, where he stated that he was looking forward to working with Kane this season.

Kane made it clear to Tottenham at the end of last season that wanted to leave for a new challenge and to win trophies and believed he had a gentleman's agreement with chairman Levy that would allow him to go this summer. As it stands though, it looks more likely that he will be staying put if Paratici and Spurs have anything to do with it.
