Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy reveals his ultimate ambition for Spurs' new stadium

Daniel Levy has revealed the ultimate ambition for Tottenham Hotspur's new stadium - to host the Champions League final.

The state-of-the-art 62,062 seater stadium is one of the most advanced in the world after opening earlier this month and has gained plaudits from around the world.

It's seen three games hosted at it so far since opening, including a Champions League quarter final victory against Manchester City which sees Mauricio Pochettino's side take a 1-0 advantage into their second leg tie at the Etihad this evening.

Spurs have secure Rugby Union and the NFL at the stadium with Saracens and the International Series taking place there next season and Levy is open to holding conversations about holding some of the biggest events in sport at the stadium.

That includes the likes of the Super Bowl and the Champions League final - something the stadium can host as it has top Uefa stadium status.

Speaking to the Standard , Levy said: “We have been delighted with the reaction from our fans and all visitors since we officially opened our new home two weeks ago. Our aim was always to create an iconic multi-use venue capable of hosting world-class events.

“We have the top Uefa stadium status, which means the venue is fit to stage any European football event, and we believe the stadium’s extensive capabilities, particularly the flexibility of having two surfaces, mean we can host a vast range of world-class sporting and entertainment events.

“We’d be open to having conversations if the relevant organisations were interested in using our stadium.

“We want this venue to be visited by millions throughout the year and having secured such big attractions in Tottenham like Premier League football, Saracens and the NFL, this can only boost the economy in London.”
