Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy responds to takeover talk

Daniel Levy insists there are no talks being held in regard to a potential takeover at Tottenham.

Earlier this year, Spurs were linked with a major money Qatari takeover while Iranian-American billionaire Jahm Najafi was reportedly preparing a bid of around £3.1bn.

Levy is believed to value the club at between £3.5bn to £4bn, and would be unlikely to entertain any bid at the figures suggested.

Standard Sport understands Levy met Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the president of Paris Saint-Germain and chairman of Qatar Sports Investments, in January.

While Levy admits the club’s current ENIC ownership “have a duty” to consider any proposals made, he insists there are currently no discussions on that front.

Speaking the Cambridge Union on Tuesday, Levy said: “I answer this question in the way I’ve answered it for the past 22 years.

“ENIC owns approximately 87 per cent of the club. We have 30,000 shareholders and most of them are fans who own the shares. We have a duty to consider any proposal anyone wants to make.

"All I would say is we are not in negotiations with anybody, nor have we been in recent months.”
