Tottenham centre rebuild around £22m Barcelona star as Daniel Levy sets up for next manager

Tottenham are preparing for a huge summer transfer window ahead, with Daniel Levy preparing to rebuild the side for the next project ahead. Two key decisions will have to be made by the chairman, with the next head coach and director of football needing to be decided.

The two appointments will likely dictate the direction of the club, which is in need of returning to its roots to get supporters back on side after years of near misses and pragmatic football. football.london understands that Levy is now set to enter talks with the next set of candidates for the job at Tottenham.

Once the key decisions are made, the next set will come in the transfer market, where some steps will have to be made to close the gap on the top. The need for quality in depth in some areas are clear, but there's also a desire from some to see the first-team strengthened too.

The midfield may be one of those positions, with injury to Rodrigo Bentancur proving to be a huge loss that the side haven't bounced back from. According to Sport, a player that could challenge him for a role in the side could be targeted, claiming that Barcelona star Franck Kessie is of interest.

The Ivorian is valued at roughly £22million, with Spurs making an enquiry over the possibility of a switch as Barca need to move players on before June 30 to boost their accounts. Inter Milan are another side rumoured with a move for the midfielder, though there are doubts over their ability to pay for the deal.

It remains to be seen if the Lilywhites will make a move, given their relative strength in the midfield department, especially in the deeper areas.
