Tottenham can repeat Tanguy Ndombele transfer trick to find their Christian Eriksen replacement

Tottenham endured a difficult 2020/21 season, missing out on Champions League football for the second season in a row.

Harry Kane has made it clear of his ambition to win trophies and is disappointed with Spurs' current direction.

However, football.london understands Kane hasn't formally told the club of any desire to leave the Tottenham Hotspur stadium and as talks have ended with Antonio Conte about becoming the new Spurs boss, it looks set to be a busy few weeks for the north London club.

The ongoing financial implications of the pandemic may mean it is difficult for Tottenham to throw around big cash for transfer fees this summer, meaning Daniel Levy may look for cheaper alternatives in an inflated market.

Here football.london details three hidden gems that Spurs should look to bring in this summer transfer window.

Rayan Cherki

Lyon's midfield starlet Rayan Cherki could be the perfect creative midfielder that Tottenham have been lacking since Christian Eriksen's departure midway through the 2019/20 season.

Spurs rely on Kane and Son's exceptional link-up play to create chances against their opposition and when their two stars are stifled they struggle to create openings elsewhere on the pitch.

To combat this problem, Rayan Cherki could be an exceptional long-term solution as the Frenchman possessing a perfect balance between jaw-dropping tricks, dribbling qualities and outstanding vision.

Despite starting just five games in Ligue 1 last season, Cherki managed to score once and grab three assists, impressive statistics considering he is just 17-years-old.

Of course, Spurs already have a working relationship with Lyon after signing Tanguy Ndombele for around £55million in 2019. Could they repeat that trick?

Myron Boadu

Spurs' current backup striker, Vinicius Junior, will leave the club this summer with his season-long loan set to expire at the end of this month, meaning Tottenham will need a new deputy for Kane.

If they are looking to sign another young, promising striker then AZ Alkamar's Myron Boadu may be the ideal candidate for that role.

Boadu is just 20 years old but has already developed a habit of scoring goals consistently, netting 33 times over the last two campaigns and pitching in with a further nine assists.

The Dutchman is raw but has a number of the same qualities that Kane possesses, including ice-cool finishing, a strong aerial presence and the ability to hold the ball up for his teammates.

Ruben Aguilar

With first-choice right-back Serge Aurier seemingly on his way out of north London, Spurs will likely need to bring in a replacement this summer.

Monaco's Ruben Aguilar showcased his outstanding offensive ability in Ligue 1 last season, registering a whopping 4.6 xA (expected assists), which was more than Spurs full-backs Serge Aurier, Matt Doherty and Sergio Reguilon registered combined.

He is also no slouch defensively, averaging 3.5 tackles, 1.5 interceptions and 2.02 successful aerial duels per game.

The 28-year-old's eye-catching performances even earned him his first cap for the French national team last November, an impressive feat considering the wealth of talent France possess.
