Tottenham can repeat Dele Alli transfer trick to land £50m striker ahead of Arsenal

Tottenham are in the midst of an action-packed summer.

The Lilywhites have brought in three exciting young talents in the form of Italian shot-stopper Pierluigi Gollini on a season-long loan before capturing Spanish playmaker Bryan Gil and Argentine centre-half Cristian Romero on permanent deals.

Spurs have also sold veteran Belgian defender Toby Alderweireld, with Argentine duo Erik Lamela and Juan Foyth also heading out the door in recent weeks as new head coach Nuno Espirito Santo looks to put his own mark on the team.

The north London club have been linked with Inter Milan frontman Lautaro Martinez in recent weeks and football.london confirmed that the Nerazzurri had accepted a bid from Tottenham in excess of £50million for the Argentine international.

However, the reigning Serie A champions had accepted the offer before Chelsea's move for Martinez's strike partner Romelu Lukaku reached an advanced stage, meaning Spurs' pursuit of the 23-year-old has become all the more difficult.

They have also been linked with Fiorentina's prolific forward Dusan Vlahovic, who is also wanted by north London rivals Arsenal, according to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, who claims that the Gunners are currently ahead of Tottenham in the race for his signature.

Still, Spurs may be able to convince the Serbian international to come to N17 instead of the Emirates Stadium, something they were able to do in 2015 when they brought Dele Alli to the club.

Former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger admitted back in 2017 that the Gunners held an interest in the goalscoring midfielder before he departed MK Dons to join the Lilywhites.

"We looked at him," Wenger admitted. "He's done very well, he’s a complete player, he’s dangerous and it’s marvellous at his age."

Spurs will hope they can enjoy similar success in the tussle for Vlahovic, who bagged an impressive 21 goals in Serie A last term, numbers that have reportedly meant his price tag is around the £50million mark.
