Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino offers Harry Kane update ahead of Champions League final against Liverpool

Mauricio Pochettino has offered an update on whether Tottenham striker Harry Kane will be fit enough to play in the Champions League final against Liverpool.

The Reds will take on the Londoners on June 1 in Madrid, as the two sides battle it out to become European champions.

Kane has been working his way back from a ligament injury which he picked up against Manchester City in the quarter-final first leg clash.

And the Argentine boss has given an insight into the England international's fitness.

Pochettino said: "Kane is training, he's in a good phase of recovery.

"We hope he's there to help whether that's from the start, off the bench or as moral support in the dressing room.

"We're optimistic that he can be there to help on the pitch."

Jurgen Klopp has been handed a huge boost with Roberto Firmino back in training.

“Bobby looks really good (and) he is now part of training,” said the Reds boss on Wednesday.

"It was not too long out, but of course we are still careful and want to make sure nothing happens.

"We have a few days still and want to use them, that’s why he is in, out, in, out."

Klopp, speaking to liverpoolfc.com, added: "Yesterday, he was only playing as a ‘joker’ (in the small-sided games) but it is good for him, the first step to play football again.

"Today he was in around about 70% of the session. Tomorrow he will probably be in completely, we will see, then hopefully it will be fine."
