Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho to help grow and transport food for local community during coronavirus crisis

Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho will volunteer to help transport food during the coronavirus pandemic.

The three-time Premier League winner will provide his assistance alongside Spurs staff at the club's training centre, where they produce fresh fruit and vegetables and deliver it to their food distribution hub, where it goes on to reach vulnerable members of the local community.

It's not the first time Mourinho has offered his assistance during the pandemic, with the Portuguese working to help prepare food parcels with Age UK in Enfield back in March.

He was later reminded of his responsibilities by Tottenham after arranging a public fitness session with midfielder Tanguy Ndombele on Hadley Common in Barnet.

In a short video published to Tottenham's social media accounts on Thursday, Mourinho said: "This is the kitchen garden at the training centre where we grew fresh fruit and veg for the first-team restaurant.

"Now this food is being taken to our food distribution hub at the stadium so that it can reach those most in need within our community.

"From next week I will be volunteering my time to help out in the garden and take this food to the stadium as we fight this pandemic together.

"I hope everyone is keeping well and of course I would like to thank all our frontline heroes for the incredible work they are doing to keep us safe at this time. Thank you."
