Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho tells Fulham to stop moaning over late fixture switch

Jose Mourinho has told Fulham to stop moaning and behave over having 48 hours to prepare for tonight’s against Tottenham.

Arguing that his Carabao Cup Finalists have had a more punishing workload with three other competitions and a congested schedule, Mourinho said: “We’ve played, if I’m not wrong, 11 more matches than Fulham since the start of the season. Eleven.

"We played, every week, three matches per week. In one week we played four matches.

“They played on Saturday against QPR - in London. They have Sunday, Monday and Tuesday to prepare for this game.

“If they come with half of the team, I will be the first one to apologise to them and I will be the first one to say we played this game with an advantage.

“If they come with half of the team, I will be the first one to apologise.

“But if they come - and they come with their best team - I think they should apologise to all of us.

“Come on, let’s play football, let’s behave the best we can and let’s protect our industry, let’s protect our image and let’s play football.”

Fulham boss Scott Parker and his board are fuming at being ordered to step in with just two days’ notice after nine of Aston Villa’s first team tested positive for Covid-19 last week.

They were told it was a possibility after Saturday’s FA Cup Third Round win over QPR.

The west Londoners argue that with Villa’s situation well known last Friday, they should have been told sooner so that boss Scott Parker could adjust his team selection.

Fulham’s game against Chelsea - originally scheduled for Friday night - has been moved to Saturday evening.
