Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho's brutal swipe picked up on camera in now deleted footage as Gareth Bale theory emerges

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho is busy preparing his side for a clash against Sheffield United on Sunday.

Spurs have hit a bit of sticky patch in the last few weeks, dropping points against Fulham last time out in a 1-1 draw at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

That result means it's just one win in the last five league games for the north Londoners. On the flipside, they still remain sixth in the Premier League standings and with a trip to Bramall Lane to come, Mourinho will hope to put more pressure on sides in the top four.

Gareth Bale's future has once again dominated the pre-match agenda, with the Portuguese manager quizzed on the Welshman this week. So far, Bale's return to Spurs hasn't quite worked out as planned, and speculation has been swirling over the Real Madrid star not being kept beyond this second stint in London.

Speaking to the media ahead of his side's clash with the Blades, Mourinho said: "There has not been a second of discussion about that [since he arrived].

"Gareth is a player on loan until the end of the season. Not one second of discussion. We are talking about Gareth himself, Real Madrid, Tottenham.

"Of course you know he arrived injured for the first month and the Europa League group phase is a different intensity so in the Premier League didn't play a lot of minutes.

"Then an injury against Stoke where he was having a good first half. Not an easy process."

An interesting clip is now doing the rounds on social media of Tottenham's training ahead of the match, with audio picked up by supporters.

Spotted by @thespursweb and uploaded to Twitter, the Portuguese boss appeared to give Bale an ultimatum in a dig at Real Madrid and the player.

"You want to stay here or go to Madrid and play no football?" Mourinho asked.

The footage was posted by Spurs TV but it has since been deleted, according to our colleagues at Football.London.

Bale is not seen in the footage, but supporters have a theory that it is Bale who Mourinho is talking to.

"Must be Bale surely?" said one. "Talking to Bale for sure," added another, with a few suggesting it could be left-back Sergio Reguilón.

"He could only be saying that to Reguillon or Bale. I wonder which one? I would guess Bale since I think if RM asks for Reggie back, it would be to play him. Just a guess."

"That is to Bale imo cause if it was to Reggy wouldn't have they spoken the same language," another added.

A bit of tough love, perhaps, from Mourinho towards Bale.
