Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho raises doubts over Harry Kane fitness for Euro 2020

Jose Mourinho has raised the possibility of Harry Kane missing England’s Euro 2020 campaign with a hamstring problem.

The Tottenham striker is currently out after rupturing a tendon in the New Year’s Day defeat to Southampton, with the club announcing last week that their talisman would not return to training until April.

That time frame would appear to give Kane sufficient time to get fit for the European Championships, with England’s first game not taking place until June 14 at Wembley, though he will definitely miss the final friendlies before Gareth Southgate names his squad, which are scheduled for March.

However, speaking ahead of Tottenham’s FA Cup third round replay against Middlesbrough, Mourinho suggested the forward’s return to fitness could end up taking longer than first thought.

“We try the best we can,” he said. “News on Harry we don’t have, and if you ask me every time we come here the answer will be the same.

“We expect him to be out until mid-April, end of April, May, next season, I don’t know.”
