Tottenham await former Motherwell boss as Morecambe land glamour FA Cup tie

Former Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson will take on Tottenham Hotspur and Italian boss Antonio Conte in the next round of the FA Cup.

Now managing English League One side Morecambe, the Shrimps edged past non-league side Buxton 1-0 over the weekend.

Their reward is an away trip to Premier League giants Spurs in the third round of the prestigious domestic competition.

Morecambe are 20th in League One but will have the chance to face off against the likes of England captain Harry Kane next month.

The time and date for the tie is still to be decided.

Robinson left Motherwell last December after a successful spell as boss of the Premiership club.

He first joined the Steelmen in 2015 as assistant to Ian Baraclough, before returning to the club in 2017 initially as a first-team coach for Mark McGhee, then becoming manager.

The 46-year-old guided the club to safety before delivering European football, two cup final appearances and a third-placed finish at Fir Park.

Motherwell also made millions in player sales under his tenure after the likes of David Turnbull, Cedric Kipre and James Scott all left the club for over £1 million.
