Tottenham are not clever enough to beat a team such as "fearless" Ajax, according to former Spurs striker Dimitar Berbatov.
Mauricio Pochettino's side have it all to do in the Champions League semi-final second leg after a 1-0 home defeat against the Dutch giant-killers at their new stadium last week.
The north London side could have easily conceded three times after a below-par display in the first half and a surprise 1-0 defeat away at Bournemouth highlighted the strain on the squad at present.
And Berbatov believes that Tottenham must alter their approach and be more aggressive if they are to mount a fightback at the Johan Cruyff Arena.
"I was surprised at how tame Spurs were in the first half an hour of the home leg last week, they just let Ajax play and the Dutch are not a team you want to do that against," the Bulgarian told Betfair.
"They are fearless, with an unbelievable style of play, building attacks with vision and dangerous passes; simply a joy to watch.
"Tottenham have a very difficult job on their hands now and, if they approach Wednesday's game in the same way, they will have real problems.
"To be a top team, you need to know how to be clever, to not lose your cool, not to concede in injury time - this is what they need to fix."
Spurs were missing both Harry Kane (ankle) and Heung-min Son (suspension) for the first leg but Pochettino will be able to welcome back the latter for Wednesday's game after serving a one-game ban.
Berbatov says the return of the Korean will be a boost in their search for an away goal but still thinks Ajax, who beat Real Madrid and Juventus in the knockout stage, will be too good to let their lead slip.
"We shouldn't forget that Spurs were missing some vitally important players last week - most notably Kane, Son, [Harry] Winks and, at the start at least, [Moussa] Sissoko - so we'll see how much better they are with at least a couple of those players back.
"Having Son back in particular is a big boost and we know that Spurs have the quality on their day to beat anyone, but I fear this will be a step too far against a top-quality Ajax side."
