Pep Guardiola has branded Tottenham "incredible" after Mauricio Pochettino's delivered a reminder of their title credentials with victory over Newcastle on Saturday.
Spurs leapt above City in the table with a late win over the Magpies at Wembley on Saturday as Heung-min Son settled a tight contest on his return to the national stadium.
It was the third time in as many Premier League matches that Spurs had scored a winning goal in the final 10 minutes.
“Tottenham are incredible," said Guardiola after watching his City side jump back above Spurs with a 3-1 win over Arsenal.
"Their mentality to fight and fight in the last minutes."
Manchester City could move to the Premier League summit as early as Wednesday if Liverpool slip up at West Ham on Monday night and the champions go on to win at Everton on Wednesday.
Guardiola added: "We rest and now it’s Goodison Park.
“We’d prefer West Ham beat Liverpool of course. Liverpool would have preferred Arsenal beat us. I can’t control that.
