Tottenham appoint long-standing ex-Man Utd man to crucial club strategy role

Tottenham have hired former Manchester United staff member Hemen Tseayo.

He will take on the role of strategic development director, overseeing the team of data analysts as the Premier League side look to improve their performance levels across the club. Tseayo will not be directly involved with their director football operations, instead trying to grow the club domestically and internationally.

He had been at Old Trafford for more than a decade before leaving last summer, which allowed him to take up his role in north London in November, reports the Athletic. At United he took up several roles including chief strategy officer and director of corporate development.

Tseayo was involved in listing United on the New York Stock Exchange back in 2012 and played him part in the launch of their women's team in 2018 following a feasibility study, business planning and application process. Eventually though he felt there was a ceiling to his role and he opted to move on.

Tottenham, for the most part, remain a slick operation off the pitch, very much helped by their multi-purpose stadium, which is regarded as one of the world's finest. It has been the venue for numerous events, some sporting, as the north Londoners continue to generate income.

Both Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua have fought at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which has also been the stage for NFL games, rugby matches and concerts.

On the pitch questions remain with much of the fan discontent directed at Daniel Levy. The chairman has looked to dish out responsibility in recent years, bringing in Fabio Paratici as his sporting director. However he remains the figurehead of the club with success yet to come Tottenham's way.

Antonio Conte, who is currently in Italy dealing with health issues, delivered a top four finish in the summer and was backed financially, but doubts remain over whether the club will take strides forward. Tottenham are very much battling for fourth and are highly unlikely to win a trophy.

Their last piece of silverware came in 2008 and their hopes of winning the FA Cup were ended last week by a shock defeat to Championship side Sheffield United. Champions League glory is also unlikely with Tottenham needing to overturn a first-leg defeat to AC Milan this week.

Harry Kane's future also remains a concern with the player's contract winding down. The striker, who recently broke the club's goalscoring record, made moves to leave the club in the summer of 2021 and could again re-evaluate his options with Tottenham miles off challenging for the league title as Kane's trophy cabinet remains empty.
