Tottenham: Ange Postecoglou confirms Cristian Romero boost but Ben Davies and Giovani Lo Celso face spells out

Ange Postecoglou has confirmed Ben Davies and Giovani Lo Celso could both be out for a month, but Cristian Romero is nearing a return to action for Tottenham.

Spurs travel to Old Trafford on Sunday to face Manchester United and will move above Arsenal into fourth in the Premier League should they win, with the Gunners not in action this weekend.

Davies will not be involved for Spurs though, after suffering a hamstring injury in the FA Cup win over Burnley, while Lo Celso was forced off in that match with a muscle issue and also faces a spell on the sidelines. Dane Scarlett has been ruled out of this weekend's match with a hamstring injury.

"From the last game, Ben Davies obviously game up with a hamstring so probably looking at a month or so for him out," Postecoglou revealed in his press conference on Friday.

"[Lo Celso] similar although it's harder to diagnose where he's at, we're going to send him for further tests to look at some issues. He's out this weekend. Dane Scarlett has picked up an injury in training so he'll miss out."

Romero is though making his progress in his recovery, after suffering a hamstring strain against Everton before Christmas.

It was suggested at the time that the centre-back would miss four to five weeks, but Romero has now returned to training in a major boost for Spurs.

Sunday's trip to OId Trafford could come too soon, but Romero would then have almost two weeks to make a full recovery before Tottenham's next match, at home to Manchester City in the FA Cup on January 26.

"Coming back, the only one who has joined the main group today is Romero," Postecoglou said.

"That's it I think, everyone else who is injured is training away from the main group. Romero's just started training so fair to say it may be a bit quick this weekend."
