Tottenham and Man City learn new date for Premier League opener as TV fixtures confirmed

The Premier League has confirmed its televised fixtures for the month of August, with Tottenham Hotspur's clash with Manchester City being broadcasted live.

Spurs get their league campaign up and running against last season's champions Man City the challenge on the opening weekend.

The fixtures for the 2021/22 season were announced earlier in the week, but new dates have now been set to fit in with television broadcasters.

Tottenham - who are still on the hunt for a new permanent manager - welcome Pep Guardiola's side to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday, August 15, with the new kick-off time at 4:30pm.

The mouthwatering clash will be broadcast live on Sky Sports' Super Sunday, with Newcastle United vs West Ham United the game before.

However, Spurs' next two Premier League outings against Wolves and newly-promoted Watford will not be shown live on TV.

Daniel Levy will be hoping to have a new manager in place for when his side get their campaign underway in mid-August after a hectic couple of weeks in the search for a new head coach.

Mauricio Pochettino was the club's first-choice to take over from Jose Mourinho, who was sacked in April, but Paris Saint-Germain were very reluctant in letting the Argentine coach leave the Parc des Princes.

Then Spurs switched their attention to Antonio Conte, but negotiations between the two parties collapsed after a disagreement, meaning Paulo Fonseca was the next man in the frame.

However, talks between Fonseca broke down as well, leaving Spurs with their eyes on Gennaro Gattuso, but after a backlash from the club's supporters, they cancelled their pursuit of the former Italy midfielder.
