Tottenham and Jose Mourinho told what they must do to beat Liverpool in top-of-the-table clash

Louis Saha has told former club Tottenham Hotspur what they must do to beat reigning Premier League champions Liverpool on Wednesday.

Jose Mourinho's men take on Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday in a top-of-the-table clash with the two sides separated by just goal difference as things stand.

The clash will be a real test of Tottenham's title credentials following their fine start to the season, and according to former striker Saha, they can get the best of Liverpool with the confidence they have gained from Mourinho's consistency in team selection.

"Mourinho won’t change for the Liverpool game – consistency is what is important," he told Genting Bet. "The players need to feel confident about going into the game.

"Everyone at Tottenham understands their duty and what is required from them. But Liverpool have this as well – sometimes they don’t play well but they still do enough to win the game.

"Liverpool are a tough team to beat, they press so you need to be deadly – you have two chances to score against them and when you have a player like Harry Kane, he will make sure he scores. This is the confidence that it takes to win a title."

Saha described the Liverpool fixture as the 'ultimate test', he added: "There have been some good tests that Tottenham have come through already, but to play against the Champions is definitely the ultimate one.

"I do think that Liverpool are not the same size as last year because of Van Dijk and other injuries compared to other top teams in the league.

"But you can see they still have the same flow, the same organization and it's easy for Klopp to bring in youngsters to come and do the job. So that is definitely the biggest test for Tottenham."

As ever when there's a big game like this one, conversations crop up about how many players would get in the rival team, and in this instance, it's how many Tottenham players could start if they were competing for starting spots alongside the reigning champions.

But for Saha, a fair amount of the current Spurs stars would win a starting spot at Anfield.

"Half of the Tottenham team could get into Liverpool’s line up," he added. "I really like the squad at Tottenham right now – I don’t think any players need to come into the Tottenham squad.

"They have a structure that is easy to fit into when you understand it."
