Tottenham and Chelsea have discussed a shock deal for striker Michy Batshuayi, but Spurs are refusing to meet the Blues' valuation of the striker.
Talks began after the north Londoners had been alerted to the possibility of a deal for the Belgian forward, whose loan deal with Valencia is hanging by a thread, but with the Blues only willing to put fierce rivalry aside for a deal worth up to £40million, Tottenham have backed out.
Chelsea had agreed deals in principle with both West Ham and Real Betis in Spain, while Everton were also keen but could only sign the player on a permanent basis due to Kurt Zouma's current loan agreement.
Batshuayi remains in limbo in Spain ready to undergo a medical should a deal be struck, though the front man’s wage demands are thought to have put the Hammers, who were waiting for Lucas Perez to leave the club before adding to their squad once more, off a deal, while a loan to Tottenham was never something Chelsea would have considered.
The 25-year-old, who has bagged just the one La Liga goal this season, had been of interest to Tottenham before he joined London rivals Chelsea from Marseille in 2016.
